Volunteer Opportunities

Our volunteers play a vital role in helping us support individuals and families in the Kingston community. Whether you’re preparing meals, organizing donations, assisting clients, or helping with deliveries, every volunteer contributes to creating a welcoming and supportive space for those who walk through our doors.

St. Vincent de Paul Society

Meal Program

Volunteers in our Meal Program help provide warm meals and a welcoming environment for community members. This role may include serving food, preparing simple meal items, refilling beverages, clearing tables, and assisting with light cleaning. Meal Program volunteers help ensure that everyone accessing the program feels respected, supported, and welcome.

WEARhouse

Wearhouse volunteers help sort, organize, and prepare donated clothing and essential items for community members. Tasks may include hanging and organizing clothing, sorting donations, maintaining the clothing space, and assisting staff when individuals access the program. Volunteers in this role help ensure clothing is accessible and presented in a dignified and welcoming way.

Pantry Program

Pantry volunteers assist with organizing food donations, stocking shelves, and preparing food supports for individuals and families in need. Volunteers may help sort incoming donations, check inventory, and support staff in maintaining a well-organized pantry space that allows us to respond quickly to community needs.

Driving

Driving volunteers help transport donated items, food, or furniture throughout the community. This may include picking up donations from local businesses or delivering essential items to individuals and families. Volunteers must have a valid driver’s license and be comfortable assisting with lifting.

Furniture Program

Furniture Program volunteers help ensure donated household items reach individuals and families who need them most. Volunteers assist with sorting and organizing furniture donations, preparing items for delivery or pickup, and occasionally supporting with furniture deliveries. This role is ideal for volunteers who enjoy teamwork and hands-on tasks.

Reception

Reception volunteers help create a welcoming first point of contact for visitors to our programs. Responsibilities may include greeting clients and visitors, answering basic questions, directing individuals to the appropriate program area, and assisting staff with light administrative tasks. This role is perfect for volunteers who enjoy connecting with people and helping maintain a respectful and supportive environment.

Parking Lot Attendant

The parking lot attendant is interacting with clients while they are waiting to get a meal or to go into the WEARhouse and get staff if there is an issue on the property. The attendant will help donors bring in donations to the bay. Light cleaning of the property may be asked of.

Recreational Programs

Recreational programs run on Tuesday and Wednesday every week starting at 1 pm. If you have a fun skill or activity you would like to teach or would like to be a part of programming that is already happening.
